This project was doing what Andy Warhol did for the portraits of Marylin Monroe. We used acrylic paint, and it was done on a board. Before we did this project we did the portraits of Marylin Monroe before we did it to ourselves. We had to used various combinations of color to create the effects of light and dark. Personally I struggled with this project this was one of my first studio art classes that really challenged me, it was a good experience. Even though this is required for Graphic Design majors I think this course is beneficial for everyone to take because it gives you a really good hold on color, and techniques that you wouldn't learn in other classes.

This project was to combine two or more animals together, and blend two backgrounds together to make it look as if this create exists in the real world. I created a Tiger shark with qutezal wings. To make it look more natural we had to make whatever the animal was blend in the color to make it more realistic. We had to learn how to use the pen tool, and in this class our professor had us trace a "B" for practice, and then on an elephant as a class before assigning the project. We also learned how to create layers, and from that we were able to create a layer for the shadow of the animal.

For this project we had to learn how to create a cartoon face or make a scene with code. Even though coding was a little hard to do at first it was really easy once you got the hang of it. We learned how to make a smiley face in the class, so I used that example but I changed the color, and added a nose to make it look like a blue snowman.

In this project we had to create a logo with our initials. So instead of just placing them side by side, I was reading Alice in Wonderland and it occurred to me that my initials looked like the lock. First we had to draw with pencil or pen, and paper the logo and then use color pencils to color it in. This was another use of the pen tool, and then adding colors to them. We were learning how to better use the pen tool before we went and worked on another project that used different logos for either a menu or a game cover.

For this project we first had to create the logo for our restaurant or video game. First we had to draw with pencil or pen, and paper the logo and then use color pencils to color it in. Originally I had the two mountains in the background green and the "H" and "T" a dark red, but professor Doug told me I should just have it black and white that it would look more classic that way. To create the logo I used the pen tool to trace the sketch of the logo I drew, which we then colored in Illustrator, and then imported into InDesign to create the menu or video game cover.

This project we had to create a fantasy themed book cover that would be the cover for a children's story book. We had to combine images to create the background, and add the character or whatever the cover had on it first on Photoshop. Then to get the watercolor/ paint effect we had to go into Illustrator where we ha to change some of the colors on the cover to make it more original. Finally we went into InDesign where we created the book cover look.

In this project we had to create a horror movie poster, or a horror game cover. First we had to combine the pictures on Photoshop, then we had to draw, and then color the drawing with sharpie or a dark colored marker, and to add the background, and to use the pen tool in Illustrator to show the background which peeks through the girls hair, clothes, and part of the forest. This project was fun, but once it came to adding the background, sometimes the eyes, and teeth would disappear. No matter what I tried the eyes and teeth would be the only ones that would let the background show through. This project was before the fantasy one, so it was interesting jumping from horror to fantasy.

TITLE: Fruits and Shapes

First we did an outline drawing of the shapes of the fruit, and cylinders, and jar, and where the table was in a lighter form of vine. Then we used compressed charcoal, to add the shadows, and textures that we saw on the fruits, and shapes. Making some areas that were cast in more shadows darker, while the area where the light is hitting an object like the standing up straight cylinder shows. For me this was a hard class since I'm not the best drawer, but I did enjoy working with charcoal because even if you went too dark you would still be able to go back, and make it lighter.

For this drawing we had to combine two unlike objects, and combine them to make a it seem like they belong together. This piece is about climate change and how it is a heavily debated topic. "Ice Shield" is a parody on humans false sense of safety-you are never safe from mother nature. The buildings are encased and molded into the iceberg, the city is "shielded" until the next natural disaster. Under the water you see the hidden rough sharp edges of the iceberg that showcase mother natures unpredictability. I used to be a Marine Biology major so for me being able to draw something like Ice Shield reminds me that even though I can't be a Marine Biologist I can still change people's opinion with one drawing, or image of an animal or of climate change.
